SDr. Shyamal Kumar Das is a Professor of Sociology and Homeland Security at Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University and holds master’s degrees from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, and University of Dhaka.
His research focuses on terrorism, human and drug trafficking, social inequality, and health care disparities. Dr. Das has received multiple teaching awards and research funding from the National Science Foundation and U.S. homeland security programs.


Biography
Shyamal Kumar Das, Ph.D. is a Professor of Sociology and Homeland Security at Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and has over two decades of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience in sociology, criminal justice, and homeland security. His research focuses on terrorism, human and drug trafficking, race, gender, social inequality, health care, and the application of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Dr. Das has received multiple awards for teaching excellence, including the UNC Board of Governors Teaching Excellence Award, and has secured externally funded research from the National Science Foundation and U.S. Homeland Security–related programs.
