The former Director of the Centre for Research on Liberation War at Bangladesh Open University, he specializes in the history of the 1971 Revolution, agrarian economy, and sociological studies on fundamentalism.
An alumnus of the University of Dhaka (Economics) and a legal scholar (LLB), Mr. Hossain has authored over ten books, including Language Movement in Chattogram and Kalpona Dutt: Life and Time of a Revolutionary. His extensive portfolio includes consultancy and research for the World Bank and the Ministry of Planning, alongside a lifelong commitment to labor rights and participatory action research.

Born on April 10, 1962, in Patiya, Chattogram, he has dedicated his career to the intersection of grassroots advocacy and academic inquiry.
Mr. Hossain holds an MSS in Economics from the University of Dhaka and an LLB. His professional journey is marked by his tenure as Director at the Centre for Research on Liberation War at Bangladesh Open University. As a freelance researcher, he has spearheaded major projects for global and national institutions, including the World Bank, the Ministry of Planning, and the Grameen Trust. His research portfolio is vast, spanning the history of the 1971 Liberation War, the dynamics of microfinance, religious fundamentalism, and peasant movements.
